Treasure Cookies
Your special little treasures will love these 4 step cookies.

Ingredients You Will Need:

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
2 tablespoon of milk
2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

*any treasures you want to add : marshmallows, jelly beans cut in half, chocolate chips, raisins, nuts, or a mixture of everything.

(For an even more healthier style of cookie you could omit the candies and add 1/2 teaspoon of lemon or orange rind, OR sprinkle lightly with sugar once they come out of the oven. These styles would be great for dunking in milk.)

Preheat the oven to 375F

Blend together the first 4 ingredients.

Add the egg and milk and beat by hand or on medium/slow speed of an electric mixer.
Combine the last three ingredients and beat them into the mixture until all ingredients are well mixed.
Lightly grease a cookie sheet and drop batter by rounded spoonfuls onto the pan.
Now for the fun part: lightly grease the bottom of a glass and dip the glass into some sugar. Then flatten each cookie with the glass. No need to press to hard though, just enough to make a decorating surface.

Now the children can decorate their own cookie(s) with whatever decorations they want.

Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until the cookies just become golden brown.

Let cookies cool completely on rack before serving.

ENJOY!
